| Dear
soils folk:
Hopefully by now you know a few things about the National Soil Carbon Network and the things it is trying to accomplish for our science, so these periodic emails don't reach you as unwelcome distractions. I'm emailing you to ask for your help with something I've been hearing about repeatedly from the membership and the Steering Group: a web catalog of soil analytical facilities. In order to be something that helps soil carbon research get done, the Network wants to compile a webpage that links researchers with the analytical resources they need to create project data. What I'm asking for is links, descriptions, emails of any kind that indicate analytical resources (e.g., per-sample dry combustion labs, prep facilities, specialized instruments) open for business or collaboration with NSCN members. Some of you who have signed up for Network membership have indicated that you are willing to share analytical resources with the group. Some of you haven't, and regardless of which category you fall into please take a moment and put me in touch with any facilities or resources that you think could be useful to people in need of soil analysis. If you'd like to see the skeleton of what we have so far, goto: http://www.fluxdata.org/nscn/SitePages/Links.aspx. Feedback on page organization, this effort in particular, or the NSCN in general is of course always welcome. Thanks for your time.
