11th North American Forest Soils Conference, June 21-25, 2008 Blacksburg Virginia   Two items I would like to bring to everyone's attention:   1) The webpage for the conference is located at the following URL -   http://www.cpe.vt.edu/nafsc/   and by next month will be operational – so bookmark this page for future reference. As well, sometime in April we will be announcing the first call for abstracts for the conference and we will notify the S-7 list serve when this happens.   2) The 11th NAFSC is the 50th anniversary for the conference and five themes have been developed based on previous conferences: Forest site evaluation and mapping Management effects on growth, production and sustainability of forest ecosystems Linkages between forest soils and water quality and quantity Soil ecology of forest soils Fertility and tree nutrition The Committee would like to solicit from the forest soils community suggestions for keynote addresses for each of these five theme areas where the speaker would give an overview of the topic, significant contributions and future directions ie the next 50 years. The NAFSC Committee will then review the suggestions and select someone for each theme.
