PHONE CALL TALKING POINTS FOR CONTACTING YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE REGARDING THE HOUSE SOILS CAUCUS:
 
1. Call your reps office
 
2. Tell whoever answers the phone that you are a constituent and would like to speak to the staff member in charge of ag issues. If they ask tell them it is regarding the House Soils Caucus.
 
3. When the staff member gets on the phone (or if you get his/her voicemail), tell him/her:
 
4. Your name, say that you are a constituent, quickly describe how you are associated with soil science, i.e., you are a soil scientist at XXX, and that you are calling regarding the House Soils Caucus.
 
5. Tell her that your congressman/women must join the House Soils Caucus which will serve both as an educational forum and legislative vehicle for soils and the soil sciences and lead to the enhancement of the agricultural (food, feed and fiber) economy, protect air and water quality, and conserve the natural resource base of our district and the United States (something along those lines, no need to go verbatim).
