Good Morning,

As you may have already heard, SAF has embarked upon the momentous task of digitally archiving all of our existing periodicals. This archive, which we’re calling The Roots of Forestry™, will encompass all five of SAF’s periodical journals—Journal of Forestry, Forest Science, and the Northern, Southern, and Western Journals of Applied Forestry—from their first issue through 1999, nearly 100 years of forestry literature comprising approximately 11,750 articles across more than 1440 issues.  Access to The Roots of Forestry is being provided free to all members of SAF.  Online access to all content from 2000 to today is now included with your individual journal subscriptions.

I’m happy to inform you that all content for Forest Science (from the first issue in 1955 through today) is now available.

Access to the archive can be reached by visiting http://www.safnet.org/periodicals/roots.cfm <http://www.safnet.org/periodicals/roots.cfm> and clicking on the “Search the Roots” button on the top of the page.  (If you have never accessed any of our online content, you will need to register your online subscription to gain access; instructions can be found at http://www.safnet.org/periodicals/forestryonline.cfm <http://www.safnet.org/periodicals/forestryonline.cfm> ).

In addition to Forest Science, the archive now hosts all of the archival content of Northern Journal of Applied Forestry (1984 through today), Southern Journal of Applied Forestry (1977 through today), Western Journal of Applied Forestry (1986 through today), as well as partial content (1902-1951) of the Journal of Forestry.  [The remainder of the JoF content should be up in the next few weeks.]

The Roots of Forestry is certain to be an extremely valuable resource.  I hope you enjoy perusing the content!

Best,

Matt
