Greetings!
Please let me know if you are interested in participating in this tour
and/or helping with the organization phase.
Bill Mcfee has proposed a pre-conference field trip for the Indianapolis
meeting. His level of involvement will depend on interest--and a
volunteer
to help with organizing the tour.
Bill has enlisted the help of Don Franzmeier (Soil Classif type) and
George
Parker (forest Ecology type) in giving the tour--all in all a very
prestigious group of tour leaders.
His suggestion is to see some soils developed on Wisc glacial till,
and move into Older till with fragipans and then into residual sandstone
and limestone areas. We could see the hardwoods associated with each of
these and perhaps visit a hardwood industry. We would stay over night in
a state park in S IN.
Expenses would include a bus, overnight lodging, meals, and misc.
expenses.
We need at least 30 people to conduct the tour.
I hope we have some interest--Please let me know as soon as possible.
