Forest Soils Field Tech in Alaska

The UAF Forest Soils Laboratory (FSL) seeks a Field Technician to
conduct the field related portion of FSL research projects, including
performing necessary fieldwork and other related duties. The majority of
FSL research is centered on forest ecology and soils projects in
interior Alaska. Fieldwork currently involves: automated and manual
collection of weather and soil data (rainfall, temperatures, soil
moisture, soil respiration, etc.), various types of sample collections
(soil and vegetative matter), site maintenance (including seasonal setup
and take-down). Most FSL work takes place within an hour's drive of the
UAF campus, primarily in the Bonanza Creek Experimental Forest or the
Caribou Poker Creeks Research Watershed. However, with the potential
start of the NEON program in Alaska, work at remote sites may be
included in the future. Although most of the field work is performed
during the spring, summer, and fall some data collection and site
maintenance is performed during the winter.
