Question: What is the
format
of the Exams? How can I study for Exams 1, 2 and 3? What
about makeup exams?
Answer: Exams will
include 40 multiple-choice questions. Scantron sheets will be
provided for students to take the exam. Questions will come
from
both the reading, the online lectures, and perhaps two from the
discussion list. The exams
are non-cumulative. Exam 1 is on Chapters 1-7, Exam 2 Chapters 8-13,
and
Exam 3 Chapters 14-19.
Three exams are scheduled. The highest two exam scores will count in
your grade calculation.
Exam1 will be offered on the place, date and time scheduled on the
syllabus, and it
covers only material from Chapter 1-7. There will be 50 minutes for
taking Exam1. Students must show up at the
scheduled beginning time to take any of the exams.
On the scheduled date for Exam2, but Exam2 and a makeup Exam1 will
be
offered. Questions 1-40 will cover Exam2 material (ch 8-13), and
then
an optional Exam1 for questions 41-80 (ch 1-7). You can take either
or
both exams during the time allotted. There will be 90 minutes for
taking any or all of these exams. Students must show up at the
scheduled beginning time to take any of the exams.
On the scheduled date for Exam3, Exam 3, and makeups for Exam2 and
Exam1 will be offered. Questions 1-40 will cover Exam3 material (ch
14-19), questions 41-80 will cover Exam2 material (ch 8-13), and
questions 81-120 will cover Exam1 material (ch 1-7). You can take
any
or all three exams during the scheduled time period. There will be
90
minutes for taking any or all of these exams. Students must show up
at
the scheduled beginning time to take any of the exams.
Thus, there will be 3 opportunities to take Exam 1 and receive the
highest of three scores, two opportunities to take Exam 2 and
receive
the highest of two scores, and one opportunity to take optional Exam
3.
Only two exam scores are required, but of course they must be from
two
different exams (1 and 2, 2 and 3 or 1 and 3). Makeup exams outside
of the opportunity to take makeups during exam2 and exam3 aren't
normally offered. If you miss exam3 for a good reason, in
particular, please contact us.
